You will be supporting one of our three programs at School on Wheels of Massachusetts, the backpack and tools for school program. We prepare grade level backpacks with all the tools a child needs to be successful in the classroom for their grade level. The backpack also includes a book in keeping with our mission to support literacy and education through reading. We receive requests for our backpacks from schools, other non profit agencies supporting children, homeless shelters supporting families as well as churches as well as state agencies, like the DTA and Foster Care units.
We take up to 12 volunteers at once in our community room. We want everyone to move comfortably and feel they are contributing to the efforts. We advise wearing comfortable shoes and clothing as most of the time will be spent working on your feet in an assembly like fashion.
Our address is 100 Laurel Street in East Bridgewater. When you are on Laurel Street coming off Route 106, our building is the last brick building on the right after a large warehouse. You will want to go past the first driveway you see as there is another, the last driveway on the right. Our entrance faces the parking lot. Our office is on the first floor--you cannot miss it.
We ask if the folks coming can sign into the link here as we collect volunteer hours for our backpack program. From this we use it to gauge what is needed to pull together the volume of backpacks and other initiatives coming from the room. When you are in the form, you should check you are an OFFICE VOLUNTEER. On the Group Affiliation, you will see TRI TOWN CHAMBER to select on the pull down. Volunteer Sign In
